Today we feature Sam Cinkir, the founder at Este Medical Group. We hear their story in their own words, their successes, their challenges and their insights.
Let’s start by getting to know you. Can you please tell us a little bit about you and what you do?
My name is Sam Cinkir and I am the founder of Este Medical Group, one of the UK’s leading skin and hair specialists. I oversee the running and growth of the business, but I also continue to conduct treatments too. My biggest reward is seeing the smiles on our customers’ faces, so I spend as much time working in our clinics as possible.
A great introduction and start to this interview. Can you please tell us, how did you start, from what age, and what made you decide to change direction and start?
I grew up in rural Turkey where we had very little money and opportunities, but I always knew I wanted more from life.
Hair has been my passion from the age of eight and I grew up knowing I wanted to get into the health and beauty industry and make positive changes in peoples’ lives.
I went to the city aged 15 to sell clothes in the Bazaar to earn money for my family, but my dream was to become a leader in the health and beauty industry.
I moved to England and stayed in hostels at the beginning while I tried to find a job. I began working for a hair growth clinic where my job was to cold-call people who had enquired about treatment years ago.
I started from the bottom and I worked my way to becoming a manager. I developed a new hair growth treatment and I was excited to present it to the owner of the company, but he was not interested so I knew I had to start my own business.
Thank you for that insight. So can you tell us…What does your business do and where is your company based?

What’s the story behind your success? What led to your aha moment? how did you get to where you are now?
After working within the beauty industry for 20 years, I saw a niche in the market and realised how much potential I had to start my own successful hair, skin and body clinic in the UK.
I had developed a new hair growth technique and I was really excited to bring it to my boss at the clinic I was working in, but he was not interested.
I realised that if I was to be successful with this technique, I needed to leave my job and start my own business.
When searching the market, I noticed there were no current clinics available for ordinary people to go to – the only good places were designed for privileged people who could afford expensive, luxury treatments.
My dream was to create a brand which provided excellent standards and quality treatments, like the ones rich folk could access, but I wanted it available to those who were previously denied such quality because of their income or background.
Thank you for sharing that. What’s been your life’s biggest lesson so far?
I am a firm believer that a positive mindset is key. Life throws many obstacles at you, but it’s how you deal with them that matters.
Starting a business comes with a lot of challenges and pressures, you need to stay focussed and give 100 percent effort to everything you do.
I have also found that how you treat people is the key to a successful business. I believe in empowering my staff and giving them every opportunity to grow themselves and to build a better life for their families.
The people around you are the most important part of any business. Surround yourself with people who share your values and understand that teamwork is the key to achieving your collective dreams.
If you were to go back in time, what piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
Treat people as you would like to be treated and never give up on your dreams.

What do you know now that you wished you had known before?
The people around you are the most important part of any business. Surround yourself with people who share your values and understand that teamwork is the key to achieving your collective dreams.

What has been your greatest or proudest achievement or moment?
My proudest moments are when I make a positive difference in someone’s life and put a smile on the face of someone who has lost hope.
What future life goals do you want to achieve and why?
My dream is for Este Medical Group to continue to expand and to open new branches in cities across the world.
I want to be able to leave a successful legacy to my children, but I want my staff members and business partners to be the best version of themselves they can be.
Since day one, I never wanted the business to be solely about making as much money as possible, I wanted it to be a company where everyone feels valued, from staff to customers.
If I’m able to retire knowing that Este Medical Group has helped to improve the lives of friends, colleagues and customers, I will be a happy man.
