Interview with Manaswinee Raut
“Just start, don’t dwell. Take the first step and the entire path shall spread yonder. Here’s an interesting fact: nothing stops us, other than ourselves while nothing drives us like ourselves. That’s the whole story – the choice is ours to make..” – Manaswinee Raut
Today we feature Manaswinee Raut, the founder at Adamya Digital. We hear their story in their own words, their successes, their challenges and their insights.
Let’s start by getting to know you. Can you please tell us a little bit about you and what you do?
I was born a dancer. Hailing from Odisha, I have been residing in Delhi, the capital city of both India and dreamers, for more than a decade. Having worked in an array of industries, I came across innumerable roles, responsibilities, and ethics.
I ended up adopting the best of the aforementioned aspects. After the COVID-19 pandemic, I anchored on the decision that I shall strive to be the ‘Master of my own Fate’. Hence, I forayed into the world of entrepreneurship. For a time, the unstoppable spirit burning within me might have had wandered off but it’s ready to fly again. I am a person, a name, an identity, an image et al: I am and can be everything I wish to be.
A great introduction and start to this interview. Can you please tell us, how did you start, from what age, and what made you decide to change direction and start?
The market in today’s date thrives on digital media. It’s one of the simplest facts out there, waiting to be grasped. However, in the preceding fact, there also exists a contradicting strain that went amiss.
It’s that advertising in today’s date has become a superficial phenomenon. With respect to advertising, social media provides a sense of ‘glitz and glam’ but has subtly forgotten to tend to the most important responsibility of them all, that is, sell.
The mentioned statement doesn’t stand true to major conglomerates yet it does utmost justice to the scenario in which budding brands are floating. Young brands invest a lot of money in digital marketing and end up deriving lukewarm results, while one-too-many agencies thrive on the superficial pretext of doing their job.
Adamya was born out of necessity – to do right by the clients, to do right by the responsibility undertaken by an advertising agency, and ofcourse, to do right by our passion to sell each and every inch of the world that’s on sale.
Thank you for that insight. So can you tell us…What does your business do and where is your company based?
Adamya markets ‘data-driven’ memories. Our team culminates old-school-methods and nouveau technologies, marinades them in genre-defining creativity, and executes groundbreaking campaigns that deliver. The vision for Adamya was born in New Delhi but with time, we aim to expand all over India and then the world.
We are the children of the past: Ogilvy inspired us. We are the doers in the present: we intend to craft and cast our own signature style. We are the dreamers of the future: what are we if we don’t foresee the best in us and everyone around?
What’s the story behind your success? What led to your aha moment? how did you get to where you are now?
Persist. Nothing less and nothing more. We fall, we embrace gravity like nothing else, we sink to unfathomable depths but like The Bride in Kill Bill, we ought to come back at everything, harder and stronger than ever.
Also, even when we rise, we are destined to fall again, hence, accepting it as a part-and-parcel of life, learning, adapting, and moving on is the mantra I adhere to.
Thank you for sharing that. What’s been your life’s biggest lesson so far?
Empathy and patience. Sometimes, our creativity doesn’t align well with the client, sometimes the client is disappointed with the performance, sometimes the client is just rude, and yes, many-a-times, some clients don’t pay and disappear. During the mentioned instances, one is bound to get disappointed.
This is where patience comes into play. It will take a lot many breaths to calm you down and much more patience to diffuse the circumstances. But patience works wonders and that’s a fact learned through experience.
Empathy is also essential because if you can’t relate then you can’t deliver your best. Agency-client relationship is after all a relationship and ‘understanding’ is a pivotal aspect of it.
Ego should be plucked out, wrapped carefully, and buried at an undisclosed location. An egoistic entrepreneur is not racing forward but rather reeling backward.
If you were to go back in time, what piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
I am in advertising. I was born to surprise. Here’s something for my younger self: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!
We’re nearly halfway through our interview so it’s a great time to ask how does your business run. What three tools make your business run better?
The three tools that make my business run better are: state-of-the-art software, heavy-duty hardware, and the unnerving spirits of those working with me. When in advertising, one is always on the tip of time.
Hence, taking chances with respect to the aforementioned tools is a big ‘NO’. Our agenda is to work hard with the most premium of all resources and deliver the best for our clients: anytime, anyplace, anywhere.
What do you know now that you wished you had known before?
Ego should be plucked out, wrapped carefully, and buried at an undisclosed location. An egoistic entrepreneur is not racing forward but rather reeling backward.
What has been your greatest or proudest achievement or moment?
The day when ‘Adamya’ went live as a business on the web. It was a small accomplishment – a small step indeed but the giant leap was awaiting. Hence, it was nothing but happiness that fueled immense encouragement within me.
What future life goals do you want to achieve and why?
Go global. Make an impact and get Adamya’s name etched in the annals of history. That’s THE DREAM.
To finish our inspire questions…”We believe that sharing inspiring words can inspire others.” If there was one positive thing you would say to someone to inspire and empower them what would it be and why?
Just start, don’t dwell. Take the first step and the entire path shall spread yonder. Here’s an interesting fact: nothing stops us, other than ourselves while nothing drives us like ourselves. That’s the whole story – the choice is ours to make.
