Today we feature Neeraj Gupta, the founder at Salonist. We hear their story in their own words, their successes, their challenges and their insights.
Let’s start by getting to know you. Can you please tell us a little bit about you and what you do?
I started my first business in 2011. Since then, I’ve grown a portfolio of IT services, SaaS agencies, productized services, and more traditional businesses.
A great introduction and start to this interview. Can you please tell us, how did you start, from what age, and what made you decide to change direction and start?
In 2015 I visited Singapore in Paragon mall and met with my friend who is running a salon in the mall. Then he shared his experience with me about their mismanagement.
I decided to visit other salons and get feedback. After that, I realize, salon business owners are facing difficulties regarding managing appointments, staff payroll, staff performance, client management, and other activities. Then, I started a small startup business – Salonist.io. And now, we established a great reputation in the market.
Thank you for that insight. So can you tell us…What does your business do and where is your company based?
Salonist is a salon management software. It assists salon owners to manage their salon tasks easily and smoothly. Salonist’s technology relies on three bases; capabilities, speedy and reliable service, to support end-to-end business operations. This core Salon and Spa solution allows the owners to personalize customers’ experiences, manage daily operations, and increase revenues.
What’s the story behind your success? What led to your aha moment? how did you get to where you are now?
The most innovative quality in my business is how smoothly we run our firm. From the products we create to our roadmap planning methods and customer satisfaction, we maintain a relaxed work environment so that people are satisfied enough in sharing their insights.
We always innovate and implement effective strategies according to our customers’ needs. Our leadership teams are constantly listening to their customers and partners as much as possible and always provide suitable solutions accordingly.
Thank you for sharing that. What’s been your life’s biggest lesson so far?

No business can achieve success without ups and downs! We always work in an easy and comfortable environment to maintain stability for both my team and my partners. But when I feel a little stressed, I go surfing, meditating, hiking, or travel. I also provide my team with opportunities for joy and beneficence.

If you were to go back in time, what piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
I just want to assist business owners who are unable to manage their business perfectly. One thought I always keep in my mind is “Think Plan and Action”. I follow ZOHO and there is nothing that feels like I can not become an entrepreneur.
We’re nearly halfway through our interview so it’s a great time to ask how does your business run. What three tools make your business run better?
My team usually use Jira / Trello for our platforms for daily business goals. I love how ZOHO operates. My inspiration is ZOHO. We keep adding more products to our add-ons to help users enhance and grow their business.

What has been your greatest or proudest achievement or moment?
My greatest or proudest achievement or moment when the user says about Salonist. When they praise and like our software. We feel proud of helping them.
What future life goals do you want to achieve and why?
The overall goal is to enable our team by delivering amazing moments of humor to uplift their spirits towards work.
